Expert Answer:

An antenna is a device used to move a signal away in a structured manner. Height, dimensions, size, shape, material, etc can affect it's ability to transmit.
A repeater is different. It is in fact a form of antenna (so to speak) but more-so, its job is often to clean up a signal (remove interference), amplify the signal (make it stronger) and send it back out again. This works by acting as a middle-man, to pass the signal along better, further, cleaner than possible from the originating transmitting antenna.
