Some common virtues underlined by the Bhakti and the Sufi saints were:

  1. Both the Sufi and the Bhakti saints believed in personal love and devoution towards the God and rejected the authoritarian role played by the ‘pandits’ and the ‘maulvis’.
  2. The Bhakti and the Sufi saints also rejected the existence of rituals within the fold of their own religions.
