let the height of candle is h then, height of Ist candle at any time t   { h - (h/6)t }     that of 2nd candle is  { h - (h/8)t }

given is  2*{ h - (h/6)t }  =  { h - (h/8)t }      solving we get    1 = t/3 - t/8   from which we get  t = 24 / 5 hr.  OR 4.8 hours
