Let the resistance of an electrical component remain constant while the potential difference across the two ends of the component decreases to half its former value. What change will occur in the current through it.

Expert Answer
Resistance is constant while V is reduced to half of its initial value.
So,
Initially if
I1 = V/R
I2 = V/2R
Taking ratio of both equation we get,
I1 =2( I2)
Thus,
I2 =I1/2
Thus, value of current also gets reduced to half of the initial value when resistance is same and voltage is reduced to half.
