Dear Student
Say the initial velocity of the vehicle =v1=v
final velocity=v2=0
disatance travelled befor it stop= S
Applied retarding force= f
Acceleration a= - f/m (descelleration )
v2=v1+at ==> 0=v-ft/m
t= mv/f
s=v1t+ 1/2 a t2
Sub stitute the value of t
s=mv2/f + (1/2) mv2/f =(3/2)mv2/f . =3 (KE)/f
For car and truck KE is same they will ttravell equal distances before stops.
