Expert Answer:

Dear Student

Say the initial velocity of the vehicle =v1=v

final velocity=v2=0

disatance travelled befor it stop= S

Applied retarding force= f

Acceleration a= - f/m                   (descelleration )

v2=v1+at ==>   0=v-ft/m

t= mv/f

s=v1t+ 1/2 a t2

Sub stitute the value of t

s=mv2/f      +  (1/2) mv2/f   =(3/2)mv2/f .  =3  (KE)/f

For car and truck KE is same  they will ttravell equal distances before stops.
