Solution:- Let the slower pipe fills x liter in 1 hr and faster pipe fills y ltr in 1 hr. and capacity of the tank is 96 ltr. .then
9x+ 4y = 48
12x+12y=96
9x + 4y= 48....................................(1)
4x+4y = 32....................................(2)
Solving the two eqns we get x = 16/5 = 3.2 ltr per hr
And y = 4.8 ltr per hr
So the slower pie will take 96/x = 96/3.2 = 30 hrs
And the faster pipe will take 96/4.8 = 20 hrs.
