Is there an difference between the results derived from galileo's experiment and Newton's first law of motion?

Galilieo believed that a body that is on a frictionless surface and moving will continue to move forever , however Newton properly codified this idea of Galilieo by stating that a body at rest will continue to be in rest and a body in motion will continue to be in its state of motion unless some external force acts on it. Newton increased the boundaries of galileio' consideration
