Is there a possibility of having more than 18 groups in the periodic table?

In general the number of valence electrons of an atom equals its group number. It starts from number 1 and ends at number 18 (Stable electronic configuration). If anyone finds more stable electronic configuration than noble elements then may be next group will get added but it is not possible.
