Alkyne can be converted into alkenes by reduction and then can be converted into haloalkanes.
Also, alkynes can be converted into haloalkenes and then can be converted into dihaloalkanes.
Example:
CH subscript 3 straight C identical to CH space space rightwards arrow from Mark. space Addn. to HCl of space CH subscript 3 minus straight C left parenthesis Cl right parenthesis equals CH subscript 3 space space rightwards arrow from Mark. space Add. to HCl of space CH subscript 3 minus straight C left parenthesis Cl right parenthesis subscript 2 minus CH subscript 3
