Ionic compounds conduct electricity only in molten state but not in the solid state. Why?

Ionic compounds are good conductors of electricity in the fused state(or in aqueous) state because the electrostatic forces of attraction weaken in fused state or in solution state.Hence ions become mobile.
Ionic compounds do not conduct electricity in the solid state because the electrostatic forces of attraction between ions in the solid state are very strong.
