In physics, an inverse-square law is any physical law stating that some physical quantity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source of that physical quantity.
We can never know that. But possibly from the earlier works of Kepler, Hooke, Borelli. A guess is intuitive, and comes as a brilliant flash.
