Expert Answer
When light travels from rarer medium to denser medium, refracted ray bends towards the normal.
For example, when light ray travels from air to glass slab the refracted ray bends towards the normal while light ray bends away from normal when it travels from glass slab to air (i.e. from denser to rarer medium).
