In periodic motion, it is said that motion repeat itselfs. What characteristic of motion is repeated? By which physical quantities we can say that motion has repeated itself?

Expert Answer:

A periodic motion is a motion that repeats itself after definite intervals of time.
Now, the characteristic that repeats itself is the displacement of the wave. So, basically all the charactersitics repeat themselves. The amplitude gets repeated, the frequency gets repeated and so does the time period. But, basically physically looking at the system, one can say that the displacement of the system is repeated.
Example: A pendulum. Its to and fro motion is repeated after a fixed time interval.
