in my book it is written that in a solenoid the magnetic field near its poles decreases.but it also says that yhe solenoid satisfies the property of a bar magnet. but in the bar magnet the field is maximum at the poles. so how does this satisfy the property of a bar magnet? why is it so?

Expert Answer:

what they meant in book about solenoid wa, near the poles the magnetic field diverges and hence the flux decreases, which is simillar to a bar magnet
