In an experiment on measuring of loss in weight of solid in tap water and salt water, the maximum loss in weight of solid is observed when it is 1)partially immersed in a salt solution 2)partially immersed in a tap water 3)completely immersed in a salt solution 4)completely immersed in a tap water

Expert Answer:
Salt solution is denser, so upthrust will be more and hence loss in weight will also be more. More the volume of liquid displaced, more is the upthrust and more is the loss of weight.
So, maximum loss in weight is observed when solid is completely immersed in salt solution.
