Expert Answer:

You can work on the following points:
  • Portia was well aware that Shylock wanted to cause a whole lot of pain to Antonia.
  • He wantd to take revenge for all the insults and torture endured thoughout by the hands of Christians. She comes to know about his state of mind when she asks Antonia, "  Lay bare your bosom", on which Shylock ecstatically says, " Ay, his breast! So says the bond!".
  • Portia, therefore, decided to trick him and make him think that she is on his side and ask Antonia to lay bare his chest for Shylock.
