Let G be the set of students who know German and F be the set of students who know French. So, we have
n(G  F) = n(G) + n(F) – n(G  F)
 n(G  F) = 100 + 40 – 10 = 130
20 students who know neither of the two languages
So, total students = 130 + 20 = 150
