(ii) After 2-3 days, the level of Hg (mercury) in the test tube will fall.

(iii) Carbon dioxide gas is evolved during the process. It can be tested by introducing potassium hydroxide into the test tube, which will float up through mercury and on coming in contact with the gas, will absorb the carbon dioxide and the level of mercury will rise again.
