Expert Answer
Given equation of a line is (k+1)x - (2-k)y + 3k+2=0
The equation of x-axis is y=0.
The condition for the given equation to be perpendicular to x-axis is 2-k=0
That is k=2, so that the given equation, (2+1)x + 0y + 8=0 is perpendicular to x-axis
Thus, k=2 so that the given equation 3x = -8 is perpendicular to y=0
