answered-by-expert Expert Answer
An object will float in a liquid if its density is less than that of the liquid.

The density of cork is less than that of water. Hence. cork floats on water.

An object will sink in a liquid if its density is more than that of the liquid.

Hence, the nail sinks in water because its density is very high compared to water.
