If the moon attracts the earth why does the earth not move towards the moon?

Though moon attrracts earth, they are actually in a state to acheive indepent linear motion. In absence of other effects earth and moon revolve about a common centre of mass. Although due to heavy mass of earth as compared to moon ( about 100 times) the acceleration produced is evidently much less than that produced in moon.
