Expert Answer:
Let the cost of the music player be Rs x
The gain% for manufacturer = 10%
Gain% = Gain/Cost *100
Hence, Gain = Gain%/100 * Cost = 0.1x
Hence, the selling price for manufacturer = Cost + Gain = 1.1x
Also, since the SP for manufacturer would be equal to the CP for wholesale dealer.
hence, CP for wholesale dealer = 1.1x
Now, the gain% for whole dealer = 15%
Hence, Gain = Gain%/100 * Cost = 0.15* 1.1x = 0.165x
Hence, the selling price for wholesaler dealer = 1.1x + 0.165x = 1.265x which is equal to the CP for the retailer.
Now, the gain% for retailer = 25%
Hence, Gain = Gain%/100 * Cost = 0.25* 1.265x = 0.31625x
Hence, the selling price for wholesaler dealer = 1.265x + 0.31625x = 1.58125x which is equal to Rs 1265
Hence, 1.58125x = 1265
x = Rs 800
Hence, Gain = Gain%/100 * Cost = 0.15* 1.1x = 0.165x
Now, the gain% for retailer = 25%
Hence, Gain = Gain%/100 * Cost = 0.25* 1.265x = 0.31625x
Hence, the selling price for wholesaler dealer = 1.265x + 0.31625x = 1.58125x which is equal to Rs 1265
