if the kinetic energy of a satellite revolving in an orbit is close to the earth's surface happens to be doubled .will the satellite escape?

Expert Answer
Satellite gets necessary centripetal force from the earth’s gravitational force. By equating these two forces we get kinetic energy as below.
The gravitational potential energy of sattalite is given by,
Hence the total energy of the sattalite is,
If kinetic energy is doubled,total energy becomes zero.
Hence the satellite can escape from its orbit.
