if the given g(x)is a factor of polynomial p(x)
Asked by arvind | 2nd Sep, 2012, 05:45: PM
g(x) = 0 gives x = -4
To check whether g(x) is a factor of p(x), put x = -4 in p(x).
p(-4) = (-4)3 + (-4)2 + (-4) + 9
= -64 + 16 - 4 + 9
= -43, which is not equal to 0.
Hence, g(x) is not a factor of p(x).
