if the frequency of the sound does not changes when it travels

Sound is a form of energy that travels away from the source.
If you were to continue to hear every sound and its intensity would not diminish then you will be surrounded by sound all the time, not a very pleasant scenario.
The intensity of sound detected by the ear is a function of amplitude and not frequency.
