Expert Answer:

 If  cosA+cos^2A =1    ------(i)
cos A = 1- cos^2 A
cos A =  sin^2A 
sin^2+sin^4 = sin^2A + (sin^2A )^2  = (cos A + (cos A)^2 = 1
