if alpha and beta are the roots of equation X square minus 6x + 8 = 0 then find the value of Alpha square + beta square

If α and β are the roots of quadratic equation , the the quadratic equation is
x2 - ( α + β) x + ( α × β ) = 0 ..............................(1)

Givej quadratic equation is
x2 - 6 x + 8 = 0
above qudratic equation is written as
x2 - (4+2) x + ( 4 ×2 ) = 0 .............................. (2)
By comparing eqn.(1) and (2) , we get
α = 4 ; β = 2
α2 + β2 = 42 + 22 = 20
