Anti-diuretic hormone (ADH) also called vasopressin is a hormone secreted by the posterior part of the pituitary gland. It controls the blood fluid and mineral levels in the body by affecting water retention by the kidneys. Inadequate or impaired secretion of ADH from the pituitary gland presents several clinical manifestations such as polyuria, polydipsia, growth retardation, and excessive thirst.
