Question should be: "If a and b are the zeroes of the polynomial P(x)=3x2-14x+8 then,1/a+1/b is equal to" because if we take P(x)=3x2-4x+8, the zeroes will be non-real.
Solution:
Given polynomial is P(x)=3x2-14x+8
To find the zeroes of P(x), take P(x)=0
3x2-14x+8=0
3x2-12x-2x+8=0
3x(x-4)-2(x-4)=0
(3x-2)(x-4)=0
x=2/3 or x=4
Therefore, a=2/3 and b=4
1/a=3/2 and 1/b=1/4
1/a+1/b=3/2+1/4=6/4+1/4=(6+1)/4=7/4
