i want to ask why linear polynomial has only 2 terms where has the defination says that these types of polynomials have degree 1 .

Expert Answer
The degree of a polynomial is the highest degree of all the terms in the polynomial. there is no restriction on the number of terms.
The polynomial may have terms of lesser degree.
For example:
(1) linear polynomial of degree one is ax+b, where a is nonzero
(2) quadratic polynomial of degree two is ax2+bx+c, where a is non zero. note it also has a term of degree 1
