Bondings occurs as it is motivated by noble gas configuration.
It is of different types as:
Ionic bond: It occurs when the difference in the electronegativities of bonding atoms is large. In this type of bonding, more electronegative atom donates a pair of electron to the less electronegative atom.
Example: NaCl
Covalent bonding: It occurs when the difference in the electronegativities of bonding atoms is very small. This type of bonding takes place by sharing of electrons.
Example: Cl2
