ICSE Class 9 Answered
I have a doubt on this question:
The time period of a simple pendulum on earth is 2 s. What will be the time period of same pendulum when it is brought on moon? (hint: value of g at moon is 1/6 of value of g at earth’s surface).

Expert Answer
Time period T of simple pendulam , T = 2π , where L is length of penulam and g is acceleration due to gravity
Let Te is time period on earth , Tm is time period on moon , ge is acceleration due to gravity on earth and gm is that on moon.
Since time period is inversely proportional to square root of acceleration due to gravity , we get
Hence time period of simple pendulam on moon, Tm = 2 × 2.45 = 4.9 s
