i couldn't understand relative densities

Expert Answer
The ratio of density of a substance to the density of water is called relative density.
Relative densiy = Density of the substance/ Density of water
In other words, The relative denisty is the ratio of mass of any volume of the substance to the mass of an equal volume of water.
Relative density expresses heaviness of the substance in comparison to the water.
Example:
Relative density of silver is 10.8 This means silver is 10.8 times as heavy as an equal volume of water.
