How will you test the present of starch in a food?

Expert Answer:
Add few drops of iodine reagent to the solution to be tested or directly on the food to be tested (like a potato or other materials such as bread, crackers, or flour). A blue-black color results if starch is present. If the food or solution does not contain starch, the drops will stay the same color (reddish-orange).
