Expert Answer:
H = 1/2 (V + M - C +A)
H is no of orbitals involved in hybridisation
V = No. of electrons in teh valence shell of the cenytral atom
M = No. of monovalent atoms
C = Charge on cation
A = Charge on anion
If H = 2 sp
= 3 sp2
= 4 sp3
= 5 sp3d
= 6 sp3d2
= 7 sp3d3
