Any real number that can be written in the form of p/q, where p and q are integers, is rational number
for example 2.543 is a rational number because 2.543 = 2543/1000
If a real number can not be expressed in the form of p/q, where p and q are integers, then it is a irrational number
for example, π, e, √2, √3, √5 are some of the irrational number
