How to find Equivalents of Matal Produced
Asked by | 15 Jan, 2010, 07:14: AM
answered-by-expert Expert Answer

If you take NaOH, then the equivalent of OH- produced will be 1. So, number of moles of OH- produced will be 1.

If you take Mg(OH)2, then the equivalent of OH- produced will be 2. So number of moles of OH- produced will be 2.

Mg(OH)2 (s) Mg2+ (aq) + 2 OH- (aq)

1 molecule                  1 ion              2 ions

Multiplying by Avogadro's number,

1 x NA                          1 x NA           2 x NA

1 mole                        1 mole           2 moles
