At STP, 1 mole of gas will occupy 22.4 L.

Use those conditions with PV = nRT to determine R.

P = 101,325 Pa
V = 22.4 L
n = 1 mol
T = 273 K

R = PV/nT

R = (101,325 Pa) (22.4 L)/(1 mol)(273 K)

R = 8314 L Pa/K mol
