A battery is a device which has a positive as well as a negative terminal. Positive terminal is at a higher potential and negative terminal is at a lower potential.

When the battery is connected to a circuit, i.e., its positive terminal is connected to negative terminal via wires and other components, only then the current flows from the battery to the circuit and its components. This is how current is drawn from the battery.
Electrons flow from negative terminal to the positive terminal and current flows from positive terminal to negative terminal.
