how o calculate the distance and the displacement from a velocity time graph

In the graph area gives us the displacement as:
Area = 0.5 * b * h

Area = (0.5) * (4 s) * (40 m/s)

Area = 80 m=Displacement

In case we want to find distance , if velocity does not have a change in sign in v-t graph then we have

distance= |displacement|

Otherwisecalculate the areas above and below the time axis separately.

Distance=|Area Below| + Area above
