How is work done in case of motor?

answered-by-expert Expert Answer

When a current carrying conductor is placed in an external magnetic field, it experiences a force. This is the basic working principle of a DC motor.

The commonly used DC motor consists of a permanent magnet stator and wound armature rotor. Power supply is given to the motor by split ring commutator. When the current flows through the armature, the armature produces a magnetic field around it. This field will be opposing the field generated by the permanent magnet. Therefore, the armature rotates.
