How is the strength of an acid or base measured?

Expert Answer
The strength of an acid or base is measured on a scale of numbers called the pH scale. The pH scale has values from 0 to 14.
Acids have a pH of less than 7, lower the pH more acidic is the solution.
Bases have a pH of more than 7, higher the pH more basic is the solution.
Neutral substances have a pH of exactly 7.
