How does the heat

Expert Answer:

Heat before putting in series (by each of the wire individually): V2/R

In series, effective resistance = R + R = 2R
When put across the same potential difference V, heat generated = V2/2R

Heat generated becomes half when put in series combination as compared when only one of them was used.
