How does reducing Surface Tension help in cleansing action of clothes?
How do ants and other small creatures are able to walk on liquid surface while we cannot?

When soap or detergent is added to water for cleaning of cloths, the cohesive force of attraction of water molecules at water surface breaks down. By disturbing hydrogen bonds between the water molecules surface tension of water reduces ,so that it more readily soaks into pores and soiled areas and further water molecules integrate into cloths to remove contaminates.
