how does nutrtion takes place in amoeba?

Expert Answer:

Nutrition in amoeba takes place by phagocytosis. The amoeba develops finger like processes called pseudopodia around the food particle, which fuses with the food forming food-vacuole. Inside this vacuole digestion takes place and the digested particles diffuse into the cytoplasm. The remaining undigested material is then moved to the surface of the cell and thrown out.
