how does haloalkane convert to alkene?

Haloalkanes can be converted into alkenes by dehydrohalogenation.
Dehydrohalogenation involves the elimination of hydrogen halide.
Ethyl bromide on treatment with hot, conc. alcoholic potassium hydroxide gives ethene.
