how does carbon dioxide get converted to carbohydrates in absence of sunlight ?

The dark reaction or light independent reaction is the second stage of photosynthesis (following the Light reaction). In this pathway, the free energy of cleavage of phosphate bonds of ATP, and reducing power of NADPH, are used to fix and reduce CO2 to form carbohydrate.
