The following simple example will help to understand quickly,
Examples for Mode of a Grouped Data:
Find the mode of a following grouped data
Class interval (C. I)
10-15
15-20
20-25
25-30
30-35
Frequency (fi)
4
6
8
3
5
Solution:
Here frequency of class interval 20 - 25 is maximum.
So, it is the modal class
Now
l = the lower limit of modal class = 20
f = frequency of modal class = 8
