Automobiles and industries release large amounts of toxic gases by the burning of fossil fuels. These gases include carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides etc. These are green house gases which cause ozone depletion when released into atmosphere. Also these gases cause global warming.
In addition particulate matter released from industries and automobiles cause smog and other problems.
