how can we determine the direction of electric field

Expert Answer
Electric field is along the direction in which the positive test charge placed in the field would tend to move if free to do so. It is the same as the direction of the force it would exert on a positively-charged particle, and opposite the direction of the force on a negatively-charged particle.
